Written by Nour Sobhy

In an atmosphere filled with pride and belonging, the Egyptian Cultural Office in Montreal, led by Cultural Counselor Dr. Ahmed Gaber, in collaboration with the Egyptian Consulate in Montreal and H.E. Ambassador Nabil Makki, organized an exceptional event for the Egyptian community in Montreal to witness the historic global celebration — the Grand Opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The event was held in cooperation with Mr. Peter Marcos, Chairman of Plaza Group, who graciously hosted this remarkable gathering and contributed to the live broadcast of the ceremony, allowing the Egyptian community in Canada to share in this moment of national pride and joy.
The celebration witnessed an impressive attendance of over 150 members of the Egyptian community, who came together to honor this monumental national achievement — one of the most significant cultural projects of the 21st century, reflecting both the grandeur of Egypt’s history and the excellence of its present.

The event was also honored by the presence of distinguished governmental and diplomatic figures, including H.E. Tunisian Consul Kamal Makas, Cultural Attaché Dr. Sherif Erfan, and Consul Mohamed Atef, along with several representatives of the civil society and cultural institutions in Montreal.
During the ceremony, the Egyptian Cultural Office presented an honorary award to Mr. Peter Marcos in recognition of his outstanding efforts and valuable contribution to the success of the event — a gesture that reflects the spirit of cooperation and partnership among the Egyptian community institutions in Montreal.

The celebration served as a moment of unity, pride, and appreciation for the Egyptian identity, reinforcing the strong bond between Egyptians abroad and their homeland — for Egypt remains forever in their hearts, wherever they are.
